Match Summary:
The physically robust Paraguayans gradually got the better of the first half, even if their long-range shooting seldom troubled German goalkeeper Hildebrand. Tricky winger Dominguez soon won the crowd's approval with his clever dribbling, but it was the German's Kern who opened the scoring with a close-range goal on the break and the same player added a similar second on the hour before completing his hat-trick. Paraguay's frustration led to Dominguez's red card for punching Kern, and his departure robbed the South Americans of their main weapon against the organised Germans. Falk's goal at the end was a spectacular shot from 35 metres.
